Water is Life!
Over half of your body is made up of water. It is necessary for circulation, digestion, absorption and excretion. It forms the foundation of blood and lymphatic fluid. It is necessary for healthy cells, organs, joints and regulates body temperature. Life with out water would not be possible.
Studies show as we grow older our bodies retain less fluid and we are less sensitive to thirst and this is said to be a contributing factor to digestive problems and elimination problems in older individuals.
Think of what happens to a plant when it is left unwatered. It shrivels up and dies. Watering your body from the inside allows you to continue to bloom on the outside! Your skin is a good sign of dehydration. Once you begin drinking sufficient healthy amounts of water every day, you'll notice an improvement in your skin, your energy level and you'll likely begin losing a few pounds.
It is said that a good rule of thumb is to drink 1/2 of your body weight in ounces each day. For a person weighing 150 lbs, that would be 75oz of water, or approximately 9 - eight ounce glasses of water a day.
Try marking a gallon water jug with your daily water intake mark and see if you can drink that amount every day. Keep your jug in a cool place and just pour from it all day long. For som this is an easier way to keep track of water intake.
